Couvee Solo
Couvee - Nice Place to Have Work Done
Just this weekend, as I worked on the blog that you’re reading right now, I visited Couvee for the nth time this year.
Why? Well, because for whatever reason, either the vibe, the coffee, or the position of the table and chair always triggers my mood to be very productive.
The Coffee
To be honest, the coffee selection is not that much. It only has “house blend” and has no access to various specialty coffees, and the taste of the coffee is fine, albeit it lands on the sour side of the spectrum.
Other menu selections are also not that many. Several staples such as Americano, Latte, and Cappuccino, followed by some alternative options such as Americano with Lychee syrup, Latte with Manuka Honey, non-coffee options such as Chocolate and Matcha Latte, and some other menus I can’t remember on top of my head.
The Donut
Yep, you read that right. This small coffee shop, for whatever reason, shares space with another food brand: Kalis. Kalis is a donut brand, and this small spot houses different cashiers and all.
The donut itself is pretty good. Very sweet though. When you pair it with unsweetened coffee, that is when the magic of this place happens. Yeah, donut and coffee goes well together.
The Food… or Lack Thereof
Look, if there’s one thing that this place really lacks, is food selection. Other than the donut, Couvee only serves pre-baked pastries, and they taste… alright (except the croissant. It’s pretty good).
But, in a weird twist of turns, this is actually a good thing!
Why? Well, because right next to the coffee shop itself is Mblenger Chinese Food, where you can find big portions of food at suspiciously cheap prices.
You can leave a key / your coffee cup at the desk, ask the (very) friendly staff that you’re taking lunch, have a cheap and filling lunch, and back to your previous table, all within 30 minutes or less.
The Staff (and Parking)
If there’s one word that explains my feelings about both the staff and the parking crew, is that they’re friendly. Never in the 3 years I visited this place that the staff come across as rude.
Even the parking crew that I paid IDR 2k for the trouble always help to manage the parking space, pulling vehicles in and out, and make sure helmets stay safe when rain does happen.
Conclusion
All in all, I rate Couvee as a 4 out of 5 stars experience. The vibe is good, donut and coffee goes really well, and cheap food outside the venue takes lunch to something else (in a good way).
What brings it down a star is coffee selection just basic, space is quite cramped and if you’re unlucky to get spot inside, usually outside got really hot during midday. And this place is very popular, so it gets full rather quick in the morning.
